What a weekend of football! π₯³ The Lionesses hosted the Hinckley Borough FC Comets at home, and while the final result didn’t reflect our team’s efforts, the spirit on the pitch from both teams was incredible! π
The day didn’t start as planned when Miya unfortunately hurt her ankle during warm-up and couldn’t kick off. But no worries! Megan stepped up and took on the right side of defence partnering with Sienna, showing true grit and making it her own! πͺπ
We hit the ground running, with Daisy, Isla, and Layla working tirelessly in midfield to set a high tempo. However the Comets pressed us early on with a few quick attacks. But our Lionesses didn’t back down! Maya’s relentless pressing paid off as she won the ball back and laid it off to Isla to start the attack.
As the game progressed, the Comets found their rhythm and created some chances. In the second half, we kept the pressure on, but their keeper was on fire, making some amazing saves! π§€π₯
A special shoutout to Lottie, our Parents’ Player of the Match! She showcased her versatility by playing in multiple positions and made her presence known throughout the game. π And Miya earned the Coaches’ Player of the Match for her solid defensive performance once she came on, putting in challenges and thwarting numerous Comets attacks. π
The girls donned their away kit, proudly sponsored by Go Inspire Group, as they had another friendly game straight after the game against Hinckley and they played with passion. Weβre so grateful for their support! π This was just the beginning of a jam-packed Sunday of football for our girls! β½οΈπ
