What a day for a game of football and what a win for the Panthers.
Fresh from a seriously impressive and controlled first half effort last week, that although in the end didn’t go our way, left the girls with a steely and determined look in their eyes today! They were certainly up for the challenge, and what a challenge it turned out to be!
With some very positive training sessions in the bank, attitudes on point, the Panthers have been a serious match for anyone recently. As the game kicked off in the glorious sunshine, it was an absolute battle royal of a match! A clash of titanic proportions, 5th vs 6th in the league, and Ambleside were really up for the match too! Clash number one of a double header, with the return leg being played at the Panther’s home next week!
Taking all the positives from the week before, the Panthers really looked to kick on again. The legend that is Fhallon was back to her shot stopping, game saving best between the sticks. We had a wonderfully disciplined defensive line, of Flo, Eva K, Millie, Victoria, and Iyla, and a powerhouse performance in the middle from Rivah, ably complimented and supported by Bella, Keira, Grace and Sienna too.
From the coaches perspective, it was a pleasure to watch. Arguably a smash and grab victory, but the girls worked hard for their win. Certainly playing their best football, and in the best way, and right to the last kick of the game as well.
Special mention for a gigantic performance in the middle by Rivah today, and for of course firing into the roof of the net for the win. But it does take a team to make that happen. And today, that all started from the back, with a complete Captain’s performance from Millie. Centre of the defence, and the centre of many driving runs into the Ambleside half.
Well done to all the girl’s, let’s keep it going. It’s the home leg of this double header against Ambleside next week, and I’m sure it’s going to be another cracker!
Big love Panthers! 💜💜💜
