Epworth Forest U12 Tigresses 4️⃣ – 1️⃣ Nuneaton Borough U13 White Girls

A home match for the Tigresses at Holmes Park this weekend, and the girls were up against a talented Nuneaton Borough team. The Tigresses had come out on top in their recent league cup meeting and were hoping to repeat this to maintain their unbeaten league form and pursuit of their first league title.

The first half was a scrappy affair with both teams struggling to get the ball on the ground and string passes together. Nuneaton perhaps the stronger of the teams initially possession wise, but Epworth were stubborn defensively and Nuneaton couldn’t make it count. Then, not long before half time a ball from Willow to Bella resulted in her calmly taking it round the keeper to slot home the opener.

The Epworth girls came out in the second half with more purpose and were able to get their neat passing football back on show. Bella became provider next with a run on the left, to cross the ball in for Willow to tap in at the back post. Nuneaton then piled on the pressure and were rewarded with a neatly taken goal. However, the Tigresses two goal cushion was soon restored when Bella got the better of the defender to finish nicely with her left foot. A great run from Willow from deep in her own half created the Tigresses fourth goal, with Emmie feeding the ball to Bella to complete her hat-trick. Another strong win against fellow title contenders cements the girls in a great position with only a few games left to play.

Parent’s player of the match – Bella
