A taster for the county cup final this week for the Tigresses, meeting their cup final opponents Sporting Markfield in their first league match since before Christmas.
A fast and furious start saw both teams with chances with end to end action. The game settled down as the teams found their shape and Epworth were soon on the scoresheet. A corner led to the ball falling nicely on the edge of the box for Alice, who found the top right of the goal with a curling shot. More lovely play saw Willow slot a great ball through for Bella, who finished calmly past the keeper to double our lead.
Another two goals in the second half sealed the convincing win, with Lola providing two assists, the first for Willow to finish well, then for Lillie, with a cross field pass over the top for another clinical and calm shot.
Every single girl was outstanding against some tough players. The defence held strong every time their pacy forwards attacked and Evanie was quick off her line when needed. The midfield were on constant high alert to break down play and to create new attacks and our forwards were strong, both holding the ball and also making weaving runs never allowing Markfield’s defence to rest. A performance they should all be proud of that takes us back to the top of the table.
