Epworth Forest Tigresses U12 3️⃣ – 1️⃣ Nuneaton Borough Whites U13

The Tigresses were in League cup action this week in a quarter final against a strong Nuneaton side, who we’ve not yet played this season. The warm sun shone down while the girls and spectators paid their respects to Poppy Atkinson in a minute silence before kick off.
The girls were clearly fired up as were on the attack from the off with a couple of chances, Bella coming closest to opening the scoring. With around five minutes on the clock Willow got on the end of a looping pass from Alice to the back post, showing her strength against the much bigger defenders and heading the ball brilliantly into the net. Nuneaton came back strongly and the girls were caught on the break when a long ball was finished neatly, chipped into the goal over Evanie giving her no chance of getting to it.
Bella had the ball in the net next after great work from Willow who had a heavy collision with their keeper in the build up. But after much confusion and the referee giving the goal, the linesman flagged and it was adjudged offside. This decision seemed to spur the girls on even more and they were straight on the attack. Elodie launched a huge throw in and Lillie got on the end of Willow’s cross with a nice first time finish, putting Epworth ahead at the break.
Another strong start from kick off saw the girls creating more chances and when the ball fell to Willow, just inside the area with a clear view of goal, she made no mistake and gave the Tigresses the two goal cushion they deserved. The girls kept on pressing to try and add to the total but the Nuneaton keeper made some great saves, including a fingertip save from a very powerful shot from Lola. Overall, a superb performance from the Tigresses with all the girls working hard to progress to the semi final.
With thanks as always to our sponsors CRG Diagnostics.
