Epworth Forest Bears U13s 1 – 0 Nuneaton Borough Girls U13s

The game started energetically as two committed sides battled it out in the blustery conditions.

Both sides were attacking well but the first real effort fell to Bears, Khiah’s lovely effort was saved well by Nuneaton’s keeper.

On 20 minutes, Zarah’s superb attempt to put the ball in the top corner resulted in another fantastic save.

The chances kept coming for Bears, but shooting into the strong wind and some great defending meant they were unable to capitalise.

It was a competitive game with both sides battling really hard and playing some lovely football.

It remained 0-0 at half time.

Just after the restart Zarah had a shot cleared off the line by Nuneaton’s very talented keeper and the follow up was almost scrambled in bravely by Laila.

The ball was played back out and fell again to Zarah who struck it low and hard into the bottom corner. The Bears had finally broken the deadlock against tough opposition, but the work was not yet done.

The defence showed composure, holding their positions and marking well. The wide play from Gracie and Jasmeen, meant every ball was battled for down the flanks.

Laila and Lacey continued to press, but in the end it was just the one goal that separated the sides.

Credit to Nuneaton for their resilient performance and their keeper who was complimented by all of the Bears parents at full time.

Parent’s player of the match went to Laila for her big hearted and committed performance.
