This Sunday, we kicked off the new year with our first match against Whetstone Juniors U10 Vixens on a chilly morning. The team started off a bit slow out the blocks, conceding a few soft chances in the first 12 minutes. However, we soon found our rhythm, showcasing some good passages of play and effective passing, allowing us to control much of the game.
We tested their goalkeeper multiple times , which had it not been for her fantastic saves we would have been right back in the game. The rest of the match was a closely contested battle, with both teams displaying good football. There were plenty of positives to take away, as well as areas for improvement.
Choosing this week’s Coaches Player of the Week was a tough decision, but Layla absolutely deserved the recognition. In her debut for the team, her impressive work rate and constant threat throughout the game truly stood out.
The Parents Player of the Week award went to Miya for her outstanding defensive performance, successfully thwarting numerous Whetstone attacks and initiating several counter-attacks.
A huge thank you to BRITANNIA BUFFET SERVICES LIMITED Buffet Services for sponsoring the team’s home kit!
Here’s to more exciting matches ahead!
