This week the Tigresses were away in the cup against Bottesford, the furthest point North in Leicestershire. The facilities were fantastic, but the weather less so. It was very cold and very windy!!!
Not knowing anything about the opposition as they play in the Nottingham leagues, the Tigeresses had to play as they know how, and go for it!
The girls started strongly, pressing high and with intensity. With the wind behind them, the girls had to take advantage. It took 10 mins for the deadlock to be broken but it had been coming. The girls had been relentless in passing and moving quickly, getting the ball wide, and creating wave after wave of attack.
The deadlock was broken by Alice and quickly followed by this season’s current top goal scorer, Bella. Willow then got in on the action with 2 goals in quick succession, having already assisted one of the earlier goals, you could see Willow was in the mood for goals. Alice scored again before the break, Willow again the provider. At HT the girls went in 5-1.
All wrapped up warm for the half time team talk, the girls were keen to get moving! They came out firing and in the same mood as the first half! Returning from injury Poppy G got off the mark with 2 quick goals, and with one from Lillie too, this had the victory secured! The girls were not finished. With goals from Elodie, Bella and Willow both completing their hat tricks, and then Emmie and Navae also getting on the score sheet, the game finished 14-1.
Defensively very strong, turning defence into attack repeatedly throughout, Epworth were rarely troubled on this cold and windy Sunday morning. On to the next round, we march on!
Thank you as always to our sponsors CRG diagnostics.
